Introduction

 

NetCo$ter is a cost estimation software tool developed by Bayphase. The software is widely used in-house for development and operating cost estimation in oil and gas projects. The system is based on data gathered from a range of international projects over the past 20 years; it is updated annually through reference to vendor quotations and current projects being executed by the firm.

Bayphase have started the process of making NetCo$ter more widely available through development of a commercially available version of the in-house software. The first module released is the Onshore Production module.

This modular software is used to estimate cost for the full range of oil and gas projects:

• Small, large and giant fields.
• Oil, condensate and non-associated gas.
• Onshore and offshore.
• In any international location.
• Sweet and sour fields.

Basis

NetCo$ter  is designed to allow the user to estimate cost for any level of reserves and virtually any type of production configuration determined by the user. The user inputs production data – the more there is the more accurate the estimate will be – and follows a series of steps to define the production configuration.

Once the steps have been completed NetCo$ter provides a breakdown of capital cost and operating costs. The database is weight driven and as such uses a series of algorithms to determine equipment weights and from these equipment costs. Once equipment configurations and weights are determined these are used to estimate the amount of bulks and, in the cost of onshore production, the land required to build the facility. Following input of technical data, NetCo$ter will determine development and operating cost and provides a detailed breakdown. The data base follows a strict categorisation for development and operating cost breakdown that is applied to all modules as displayed below:
